Advertiser terms

These terms apply when you buy ads on Rateweb through the self-serve ad manager. By paying for a campaign you agree to them.

1. Who you are buying from

2. What you buy

You buy a number of viewable impressions. An impression counts when at least half of your ad is on a reader's screen for at least one second. Visits we identify as bots are not counted. Each time your ad is shown it can count once at most. Our count, shown on your dashboard, is the basis of delivery.

We do not promise a date by which your impressions will be delivered. The forecast in the ad manager is an estimate from our recent traffic. If you choose to spread delivery over a number of days, we cap how many impressions are shown each day.

3. Price and payment

The full price, in rand, is shown before you pay. No VAT is added to these prices. You pay in advance by card through Paystack. We never see or store your card details.

4. Review before your ad goes live

A person checks every ad before it runs, usually on the same working day. We may decline any ad. If we decline yours, we refund the full amount to the card you paid with, and tell you why.

5. What your ad may not do

You are responsible for your ad and the page it links to. Every paid ad on Rateweb is labelled "Sponsored". Ads never influence our ratings, rankings or editorial content.

6. Pausing, cancelling and refunds

7. Your information

We use your business and contact details to run your account, take payment, send receipts and reports, and meet our legal duties, as described in our privacy policy.

8. Liability

Our total liability to you for a campaign is limited to the amount you paid for it, except where the law does not allow this limit.

9. Law

These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa.
